Google Tech Talk (more info below) November 15, 2010 Presented by Dale Dougherty, Tony DeRose, Karen Wilkinso, Mike Petrich, and Michelle Hlubinka ABSTRACT Make magazine and Maker Faire are part of a larger "Do It Yourself" movement that has been gaining momentum over the last decade. In this talk we will discuss some of the factors behind the movement, where the movement is now, and where it might be going. We'll also highlight ideas for supporting youth who are passionate about hands-on activities. One such idea is the Young Makers Program that we are launching as part of a collaboration between Make Magazine, The Exploratorium, and Pixar. Dale Dougherty is the founder of Make magazine and the creator of Maker Faire, which leads a growing maker movement. He is GM of Maker Media at O'Reilly Media in Sebastopol, California. Dougherty is a co-founder of O'Reilly Media, a technical publisher and conference organizer known for its advocacy of Open Source and the Web. An early Web pioneer, Dale was the developer of Global Network Navigator (GNN), the first commercial Web site launched in 1993 and sold to America Online in 1995. Dale was developer and publisher of Web Review, the online magazine for Web designers from 1995-1999, which was sold to CMP in 1999. He coined the term Web 2.0 as part of developing the Web 2.0 Conference. Make Magazine started in 2005 followed by the first Maker Faire in the Bay Area in 2006. Making a Leather Gun Case

!±8± Making a Leather Gun Case

Gun case is something that you should think about to take care of the gun that you have. You will find that this case will not make the gun is exposed from moisture, prying hands and dirt. You will be able to make simple gun case by yourself if you do not want to buy it in the gun shop. The following steps will help you to make leather gun case that for your gun.

The first step that you should take is to make the outline of the gun. You should do this step correctly in order to get the correct outline so that you can make a correct case. You can make 4-inch allowance to every part of the gun to give extra inch. Also, you should give extra inch on the right side of the gun. After you have finished with the outline, you can cut the pattern.

The second step is to place the patter that you have made beside the leather that you have prepared before. Then, you should make a copy of outline in the both side of the leather. You can do it by using a marking pen.

The third step is to cut the leather that you have marked with cutting kits. But, you have to be sure the cutting stays outside the border. After that, you have to match the cutting leather for every border. Make sure that the borders up to one another.

The next step is to get it snug fit by pressing down the leather. You must determine the margin of the case before measuring it from the top corner to the bottom corner. This is done to know the amount of snaps that you need. You can do it by dividing the measurement by two. If you find that the result is a frictional number, you should adjust the distance of the snaps. In this case, you have to make sure that the distance is smaller than 2 inches. Then, you can use pencil to mark the spot where the snaps will go.

The next step is to set the snaps of the case. You can start from the bottom corner. Make sure that you set all the snaps needed so that you can have great case for your gun.

The last step is to make the case neat. To do this, you should cut any snap borders so that it will look nice. And, the case that you need for your gun is ready.
